Feast is the last movie attempt in a series created by the Project Greenlight producing team of Matt Damon, Ben Affeck, and Chris Moore. With consultation from Wes Craven and newbie director John Gulager the Feast crew did their best to create a campy, creepy, and all out blood fest. They suceeded as the viewer can tell right away that this movie doesn't takes itself too seriously. That's what makes it a great and entertaining diversion for it's 70 minute length.
Gary J. Tunnicliffe did the makeup special effects for this film. Tunnicliffe is known for such films as WishMaster, Blade, Hellraiser, and Candyman. He lends unique talents to Feast in creating creatures that terrorize a group of people stuck together in a remote bar in the Texas desert.
Tunnicliffe doesn't use any computer graphics to fill in gaps. All of the work involves real puppetry, masks, and full body suits for the actors portraying the beasts and victims.
The movie is a terrific blend of blood, laughs and suspense with some unexpected twists of fate throughout the story. You have to love the full on blood and mucus scenes...no holding back on what the actors had to endure. In fact, during the making of short film, Tunnicliffe refers to one actor who complained about the amount of blood and getting some in their eye. Tunnicliffe basically replies that's the blood business baby...what do you expect in a horror film?
The movie boasts a few fun appearances from actors such as Jason Mewes of "Jay and Silent Bob" fame, Henry Rollins, Eric Dane aka "Dr. McSteamy" of "Grey's Anatomy" and veteran actor Clu Gulager the director's dad.
