Barney Burman

Barney Burman special effects makeup master and all around gore guru recently took a few moments to answer some GoreMaster questions. As the son of famed makeup artist Tom Burman, Barney has worked to create his own identity in the field. Burman is a founding member of The Proteus Make-up FX Team (formerly Proteus FX) studio. As the artistic director and lead make-up artist of Proteus FX, Burman has accumulated an impressive credits list that includes the TV series Alias, and such films as Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny (2006), Blades of Glory (2007), and Valkyrie (2008). Mr. Matt Ficner of Matt Ficner Productions and Creepy Puppet Project fame agreed to answer a few questions for GoreMaster. Mr. Ficner is a multi talented designer, creature creator, and puppeteer. GoreMaster recently had the wonderful opportunity to interview makeup artist Kelcey Fry.  In her nearly 30 years in the profession, she has worked as an instructor for the Joe Blasco Professional Makeup Training Center, on films such as “Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, and on television series such as “The Riches”.  Kelcey gives us some very useful insights into the profession and reflects on an incredible career! Gino Acevedo -- Makeup Special Effects and Prothetics Artist

Award winning Senior Visual Effects Prosthetics Supervisor and Visual Creature Effects Art Director, Gino Acevedo, at WETA Workshop in New Zealand took some time out of his busy schedule to talk about his impressive Special Effects Makeup/Prosthetics career spanning over 20 years. Mr. Acevedo has worked on such monumental films as Men in Black, Independence Day, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong just to name a few!  He talks to Goremaster about getting his start in the industry and offers some advice for new artists hoping to break into field of makeup special effects!
